Chlamydia

Chlamydia is a bacterial infection spread during sexual contact.  An infection with Chlamydia may cause a discharge, pain with intercourse or a burning sensation during urination.

Chlamydia can cause a painful condition in women called Pelvic Inflammatory disease (PID).  This condition can affect fertility or pregnancy.

A Chlamydia infection can be cured with antibiotic treatment.  It is tested in a clinical office.

Young women who are sexually active should be tested for Chlamydia.   People with a feeling of burning during urination or a discharge should be tested for Chlamydia.
